Ho, who hails from Davao City and co-hosts a travel show called 'Lakbai' in TV5 with President Duterte's youngest son Sebastian “Baste” Duterte, is the 30th MTRCB board member, and will be the last one. He now joins some other entertainers who were also recently appointed by the president, as mandated by Presidential Decree No. 1986.
Aside from Bogart the Explorer, President Duterte has appointed James Ronald Macasero (aka Moymoy Palaboy) and singer Luke Mejares as MTRCB board members in January, singer Paolo Santos in March. and actor-comedian Dennis Padilla ( Dennis Baldivia in real life) in June, along with singer Aiza Seguerra as MTRCB committee member.
According to the MTRCB rules, the president shall appoint it's chairman, vice-chairman, and all the 30 members. As mandated by law, board members should be multi-sectoral, with at least 15 of them may come from the movie and television industry, and that 5 members must be licensed lawyers. Bogart the Explorer’s term will end on September 30.
Upon learning the appointment of Bogart the Explorer, former APO Hiking Society asked a question on Twitter, “Duterte appoints ‘Bogart the Explorer’, Baste’s co-host, to MTRCB. Any other DU30 supporter or from Davao who has not yet been appointed?” He tweeted, Wednesday. Obviously, the 65-year old singer is not merely asking, but rather being sarcastic.
As we all know, some entertainers who have supported President Duterte during the May 2016 elections now have government positions. The most controversial appointee was entertainer-turned-blogger Mocha Uson, who was previously appointed at MTRCB board member, and is now the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO). assistant secretary.
