Kin of Missing Bulacan Massacre Suspect Seeks Protection from CHR, Meets With Etta Rosales

A relative of the missing 'person of interest' in the Bulacan massacre is now asking protection from the CHR (Commission on Human Rights), and recently met with former CHR Commissioner Etta Rosales. This is after two other 'persons of interest' - Ronaldo Pacinos, alias Inggo and Roosevelt Turima alias Ponga have been killed in the past two days.

“Natatakot na po kasi kami dahil sa dun sa dalawang kasamanahan niya na magkasunod na pinatay, kaya po naisipan naming humingi na ng tulong sa CHR.” Thelma (not her real name) said, as interviewed by some reporters in an undisclosed place in Bulacan, adding that Alvin Mabesa has not yet communicated with them since the massacre took place.

Mabesa, was said to be one of the drinking buddies of Bulacan massacre suspect Carmelino "Miling" Ibañes, along with Pacinos, Turima, and a certain Tony. The victims, Aurora Dizon, 53; her 35-year old daughter Estrella, 35; and her three grandchildren ages 1, 5 and 11, were found dead by the Estrella's husband, Dexter Carlos, June 27 morning.

Ibañes was arrested 24 hours after the crime. In front of the media, he admitted being drunk and taking shabu before committing the crime. However, Ibañes' drug test resulted to negative and his sworn statements changed. The suspect now said he only remembered killing one of the victims, and denied raping the two women after killing them.

Pacinos' dead body was found last Tuesday, with several wounds in the body and his four fingers were cut. On the other hand, Turima was shot dead this Wednesday, inside his house by a group of masked men. No less than President Rodrigo Duterte himself visited the wake of the Bulacan massacre victims, who are laid to rest this Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Thelma said that she and other relatives of Mabesa have already met with Rosales Wednesday afternoon. According to her, the former CHR commissioner promised them to help as much as she can, adding that she trusts the agency in protecting people from human rights violation and police abuse, regardless of the status of the person.
