Misplaced Lang Daw, OVP Fires Staff Who Told LTO Naga That VP Robredo Has Expired Driver's License

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) of Bicol region clarified that the driver's license of Vice President Leni Robredo is not expired, but rather was misplaced. It was also confirmed by the Office of the Vice President (OVP). This is after tons of netizens slammed the vice president for driving in USA last month, using an expired driver's license.

"Erratum: VP Leni misplaced her valid driver's license hence she applied for re-issuance of a new driver's license at LTO Naga, contrary to what earlier posted that VP Leni applied for license renewal. Sorry for the confusion." An added statement reads on the edited version of posted at Land Transportation Office – Bicol Facebook page last Tuesday, July 11.

On the same Facebook post, a series of photos of VP Leni Robredo were shared, as she entered the LTO Naga District Office, sitting on a chair while for waiting for her turn, as well as talking to an LTO staff in a window. According to the post, the 52-year old vice president did not receive any VIP treatment, and went through the process, just like an ordinary citizen.

Last Wednesday, netizen Benjie Daisy Contreras questioned a photo of VP Leni Robredo driving a car in Cambridge, Massachusetts, along with her daughter, Aika last June 21. "Leni Robredo celebrated her 52nd birthday last April 23, 2017, but she just renewed her driver's license at LTO-Naga City, yesterday, July 11, 2017." He wrote on Facebook.

Meanwhile, VP Robredo's spokesperson Georgina Hernandez confirmed that her boss' driver's license is not yet expired when she went to LTO Naga. According to her, the vice president could not find her driver's license so she decided to get a new one. Hernandez noted that there was only some miscommunication between their staff and the LTO office.

“When one of our staff called the LTO Naga office, and told them that our vice president will come to get a new driver's license, she did not inform them that the license has been misplaced. Therefore, the LTO staff that she was taking to thought that the license is for renewal. Right now, we are now looking for a new staff.” She told reporters this Thursday.
