QC Mayor Herbert Bautista 'Tells' Teacher to Transfer to Pasay When Asked About Classes Suspension

Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista allegedly maligned a teacher who asked why classes are not yet suspended due to Tropical Storm Gorio, even if the Pasay City government has already made the announcement. The incident happened last Wednesday, July 24, when the teacher posted the question on QC mayor's official Facebook page.

"So ang Pasay na nagdeclare ng suspension kanina all levels hindi inantay ang weather forecast for tomorrow?" Don Dela Cruz Prado wrote. After a few moments, the page replied, "You can transfer to Pasay." Then, a netizen commented, "Burn." Later, many netizens shared the post, which earned mixed reactions. He later deleted his comment.

On a separate post on his Facebook page this Thursday, Mr. Prado, who teaches Social Studies at Sta. Lucia High School expressed his disappointment over the reply to him at Mayor Herbert Bautista's Facebook page. He said that he posted his comment after he read a fake news reported that QC government has not yet suspended the classes.

"As a teacher you're concern to students going to school about their safety and health because of delayed announcement of LGU brought by unconditional weather even your plan for daily tasks and routines at workplace is also affected. Even parents' concerns about late notice in class suspensions have impacts to them too." Teacher Prado wrote.

"I was shocked and I am shaking right now. I'm bombarded by tags, messages of my students/former students while having my dinner.” He added, noting that he first posted, "So Pasay pa lang po, wala pa po QC?" He said that the Facebook page said that they are still waiting for the 11:00pm weather forecast from PAG-ASA, so he later asked again.

"Minsan sinusubok tayo hanggang saan aabot ang ating professionalism. I was "burn" "bars" and there were many rants against me...Everyone is responsible in using social media. Let us be polite in giving replies especially page admin of a public servant just like me. If im not and if im misinterpreted "sorry"." The public school teacher said further.

As a teacher, YOUR concern to your students going to school, IS about their safety and health.

I'm sorry sir, but you would have to check on your grammar.

  4. Im also not good at grammar kaya taglishin ko na lang.
