5 Possible Reasons Why President Duterte Ordered Reinstatement of Supt Marcos, Now CIDG Region 12 Chief

Last week, President Rodrigo Duterte made a very controversial decision. He ordered the reiinstatement of Police Supt. Marvin Marcos, who has been suspended for four months after he was charged in the killing of suspected drug lord, Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa inside his own prison cell at the Baybay City Provincial Jail (BCPJ) last November.

As we all know, Supt. Marcos was assigned as head of Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Region 12, which covers the SOCCSKSARGEN region. As expected, people are asking, “Why?” For me, here are five possible reasons that people think as to why President Duterte reinstated Supt. Marcos, along with my own conclusion.

#1 Supt Marcos is a close relative of the Marcos family

As we all know, President Duterte is very close to the Marcos family. Since day one, he announced being in favor of the hero's burial of the late, President Ferdinand Marcos. It also appears that he likes former Senator Bongbong Marcos to be part of his government. But then, Supt. Marcos is not in any way related to the Marcoses. Conclusion: Very impossible.

#2 President Duterte tolerates drug-related EJKs

According to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Mayor Rolando Espinosa was murdered. However, the case was downgraded to homicide, and Supt Marcos' suspension has ended. Therefore, legally speaking, President Duterte has done nothing wrong. And it does not mean he tolerates drug-related EJKs. Conclusion: Very unlikely to be possible.

#3 President Duterte prefers 'dirty' cops on duty

President Duterte has been sending 'dirty' cops to Mindanao, as additional forces against terrorists. Dirty here means being involved in corruption, being lazy and errant, or simply not performing their job. Supt. Marvin Marcos may be arrogant-looking, but as far I know, he has no record of corruption accusations. Conclusion: Very unlikely to be possible.

#4 President Duterte is afraid Supt Marcos might rat on him

This is actually the accusation of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, who we all know is a staunch critic of President Duterte. Since the latter part of the election campaign, the Liberal Party (LP) ally senator has been accusing Duterte of corruption, hidden wealth, and many more. But so far, he has no solid proof, only hearsay. Conclusion: Very impossible.

#5 President Duterte has a better plan but he cannot disclose yet

In case you're not aware, President Duterte admitted last December that he called PNP Chief General Ronald 'Bato' De La Rosa, requesting him to hold the relief of Supt. Marcos, so that authorities could tail him and lead them to his illegal drug connections. Therefore, the president has a better plan. Conclusion: Very likely to be possible

  2. Eliminating drug Lords by all means is one of the greatest projects of the President. He said he is answerable to any one who does his duty pretty well. Drugs destroy the people of the land, most of all the youths of our country and of our future generation!
