"As Christians, we are bound to forgive those who sin against us as we ask God to forgive our sins. So much so if the sin was not really committed.” Outgoing CBCP President Socrates Villegas said during his mass in his hometown Lingayen, Pangasinan, Sunday morning. He will be replaced by Davao Archbishop Romulo Valles this coming December 1.
And although he did not mention the name of Rev. Msgr. Arnel F. Lagarejos, who was arrested while he was on his way to a motel along with a pimp, Archbishop Soc Villegas reminded everyone that even priests are also tempted to commit sin. "No one is excuse for committing sins, even we priests are prone to commit mortal sins." He added.

As reported earlier, Fr. Arnel Lagarejos was arrested at around 6:30 pm at Blue Wave Mall on Sumulong Highway, in Barangay Sto. Niño, Marikina City, along with a 16-year-old gay boy who served as the pimp in the transaction for the 13-year old girl. He was then driving his Ford explorer with plate number TGO 350, when the joint police team stopped them.

According to Eastern Police District Director Chief Supt. Romulo Sapitula, the arresting team was surprised when they learned that the man they arrested was a priest, because their initial plan was only to arrest the pimp. Recovered from Fr. Lagarejos is an iPhone 5s that contains exchange of messages between him and pimp, and a gun, reports said.
Based on Fr. Arnel Lagarejos’ LinkedIn account, he lives in Antipolo, Rizal, and was once the president of Cainta Catholic College. He also became the parish priest of the Our Lady of Abandoned Parish in Marikina City, from February 2000 to April 2006. The suspect is currently the parish priest of St. John the Baptist Parish in Taytay, Rizal.

Obvious fake news...
ReplyDeleteNo it's not fake news, it's out already on radio, and Bishop Cruz made comments on it.
DeleteAnd now the world knows that almost priests are pedophile and the church leaders are tolerating it and now I know they are evil

Dapat pinapalitan n yan si Villegas sa kaparian..he is too hypocrite...shame
ReplyDeletethe sin was not committed? Napigilan lang siya kasi nahuli siya. The sin was already committed father, right after he conceived it in his mind that's what Jesus said. It was a complete deal a crime being done. Where is your theology?
ReplyDeleteForgiveness is one thing. Penalty for a crime is another. IMHO, the priest has transgressed the law of the land. The Republic is his prosecutor. Not the parents.
ReplyDeleteHave you really internalise the claim plus the body of this article? There was not even a single statement that clearly states the Bishop is asking the mother to forgive!
DeleteYou are just so sick to comment, are you?
So true. So ang dating nyan eh, sorry for the crime na hindi nacommit. Parang tanga lang
Deletedon't dare to judge anyone without knowing the story behind and if you do not really know who you are talking about! shame on you people. everyone can commit sin so are you
ReplyDeletethen explain the #neveragain
DeleteLet the one without sin cast the first stone..
ReplyDeleteI condemn the one who wrote this! How dare you misquote the Bishop. There was no clear statement that He is appealing to the mother. What you are doing is igniting people in anger.. Infact, your news is a LIE! Where is your Ethics!
ReplyDeleteWas there a single statement that you can quote directly stating thar Bishop Soc is appealing to the mother for forgiveness?
ReplyDeleteThis news is just very sick. The writer too is sick. Why cant this person be charged of speaking ill and spreading fake news.
Again, the Bp. Didn't say any word appealing to the mother for forgivness.
"As Christians, we are bound to forgive those who sin against us as we ask God to forgive our sins. So much so if the sin was not really committed.” that is what Soc Villegas said. The news is not sick. You are sick for thinking the priest did nothing wrong!
DeleteSin not yet committed... eh syempre nahuli sa raid eh.
ReplyDeletePadre Damaso is Alive 😎😎
ReplyDeleteHypocrites! Pedo!
ReplyDeleteNong si Peter and other Apostles nag kamali, ganyan ba responds ni Lord Jesus sa kanila? Sila nag kamali din like these Catholic Priests. Bakit ganyan kayo maka husga sa tao. Who are you?
ReplyDeleteI am a parent and Bible school student who knows the difference between mercy and justice. Dapat magpatawad pero Hindi ibig sabihin nun wala Ng consequences sa kasalanang nagawa. Hindi lang ito pagkakamali. Kasalanan it says batas ng tao at batas ng Dios kaya may karampatang parusa.
ReplyDeleteThe nerve of this CBCP president to even ask this of the victim's mother. You're office should be an example to not condone this behavior. No person is above the law. Regardless if he is a person of the cloak or not- he should face charges. To keep him off the streets and children safe.
ReplyDeleteyup, heard that on the news today....& apparently weilding a gun each time :(
DeleteLook at the hypocrisy of the CBCP and of Villegas! Would he be calling for forgiveness if the suspect was not a priest? Fine forgive the priest but he needs to pay for his crime and sin! Let him spend 12 years in jail! We all have to pay for our sins so must the priest! The church is a hypocrisy because what the priest has done is not the first time a priest has been mañakis! And what hypocrisy of Villegas saying that the crime did not really happen. The priest had already taken the steps to commit the crime. Plus he had seen the child once before. So stop all the bullshit!

ReplyDeleteExactly. Sino niloko nyo? Wag kami. LOL.
ReplyDeletenung una pastoral letter nu,ang prayer nu sana d mamatay ang mga drug lords....n baligtad ata, dapat u pray n tumigil n sila, at mgbagongbuhay, now intervention nmn n patawarin c priest, why not ask forgiveness sa diyos? u said n tao din sila ngkakasala....then why kasama sa service nu ang pagtanggap ng kumpisal? at ang kung ano ano dasal gagawin so sin will be forgiven, n aminado ku n d ku qualified dahil sinners din ku.
ReplyDeleteCBCP claims attempted? the crime was already done! it was the second time the priest meets with the victim! such hypocrite priests, priest are suppose to be more holy and more stronger to than us because of their so called faith. Everyone should not be above the law even priests
