Watch: Steven Seagal Back in Manila to Support Miss Earth, Says Dutete is a Very Good President (Video)

Hollywood action star Steven Seagal is back in Manila, this time to support the advocacy of the Miss Earth 2017 beauty pageant, and to find a possible location for his next movie. In a press conference at the Carousel mansion in Mandaluyong City last Monday night, he was also asked about his thoughts on President Rodrigo Duterte. Watch video below.

Seagal, who starred in several blockbuster action movies such as “Únder Seige (1 and 2)”, “Above the Law,” “Out for Justice” and Hard to Kill,” was asked by reporters if he feels safe going back to the Philippines despite the news about the so-called extra-judicial killings (EJKs) related to the intensified campaign of President Duterte against illegal drugs.

“You know, I’m a big fan of the government. And I think Duterte is a very good president, and that he has been instrumental in making the Philippines a safer place I think what he’s done is very good in terms of trying to get the control back for the people. I don’t feel like that this is a dangerous place, you know a place that’s up and coming,” Seagal said.

Steven Seagal was accompanied by his long-time friend, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Luis “Chavit” Singson at his welcome party, which was hosted by Lorraine Schuck and Ramon Monzon of the Miss Earth Organization. Singson said in the event that he might co-produce the next movie of Seagal, but did not reveal further details.

On the other hand, Schuck said she will invite Seagal to be one of the judges of the upcoming Miss Earth 2017 finals night, which will be held on November 4 at the MOA (Mall of Asia) arena in Pasay City. So far, 88 candidates from different countries in the world will compete for the crown, with 26-year old Karen Ibasco to represent the country.

Interestingly, the last time that Steven Seagal has visited the Philippines was in 2016, after Singson invited him to make a brief stop in Cebu en route to a Boracay holiday. He also visited the country during the Marcos regime, and during the administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. He is also a musician, a martial arts expert, and an environmentalist.
