Blind Duterte Supporters Defend President Duterte for His Cursing, Lying and Broken Promises

President Rodrigo Duterte is known for cursing at people who accused and criticized him. Recently, he admitted telling a lie about the details of the alleged offshore bank accounts of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV. He said he only invented those bank accounts to make fun of the senator. Nevertheless, the president is also being criticized for his broken promises.

However, a group of Duterte supporters who calls themselves as Blind Supporters of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (BSPRRD) defended the president. As the group’s name implies, its members are blind, with most of them were born blind. They come from different parts of Metro Manila, and many of them are professional massage therapists.

“We may be blind, but people who can see don’t realize that we are more sensitive than them in many aspects.” BSPRRD President Arnulfo Celocia said. Despite being blind since birth, he said he is a happy person because of the support he has been receiving from his family and friends. He also teaches Braille, a reading technique for the blind.

“I decided to form this group to show people that blind people also know what’s happening in the country, especially in politics. We listen to news every day and of course to President Duterte’s speeches. We know his curses a lot but it’s only because he is very angry, especially to people behind illegal drugs.” The blind Duterte supporter added.

When it comes to the President Duterte’s lying about Sen. Trillanes’ alleged bank accounts, Celocia said that the president is a very good strategist. He said he also agrees with President Spokesman Ernesto Abella when he said that the lying issue only proves that President Duterte is smart person, but has an unorthodox way of doing things.

For President Duterte’s broken promises especially on his vow to end illegal drugs from 3 to 6 months once he elected, Celocia said that the president was not aware of the gravity of the drug problem. “As we all know now, the illegal drugs industry in the Philippines is so spread and no one can really solve in such a very short period of time.” He noted.
