Watch: Man Slaps 11-Year Old Boy Inside Elevator 3 Times, Apologizes but Defends Actions (Video)

A man was caught on CCTV slapping the face of an 11-year old boy three times inside an elevator in a condominium in Cubao, Quezon City. The suspect was later identified as Mike Carlos, 35, and a resident in the said condominium. He apologized for his actions, but nevertheless defended himself. According to the report, the incident happened last Sunday afternoon, October 15. As you can see, Carlos and the unnamed boy were the only ones inside the elevator that time. When the door opened, the man slapped the boy’s face. When the door was about to close, the suspect went back and slapped the boy again, twice and harder than the first.

GMA News reporter Ivan Mayrina found the boy, and noticed that the latter had difficulties in walking, and has some lumps. According to the boy, who is a son of one of a laundry woman serving residents in the condo, he has a bone disease. When asked why the man slapped him, he said he was just asking if the elevator is going up or down.

According to QCPD-Station 7 chief Police Superinetendent Benjie Tremor, the incident could be a case of child abuse. On the police blotter, Mike Carlos admitted slapping the young boy, and apologized. He also promised to pay for whatever medical expenses needed by the victim because of the slapping. However, no charges were filed against him.



But after Barangay Captain Marciano Buena-Agua have watched the video and read the police blotter, he said he was not satisfied and he wanted to make sure that the suspect will fulfill his promise. In an interview, Carlos explained why he slapped the boy, saying that he was quite tired at that time, and that he thought the boy was mocking him.



“Medyo pagod ako nun. And then nung 15 (floor) na, tinatanong ko siya kung san sya then sabi nya, ’15 na pala.’ May mga pabalang na, akala ko pabalang pero ganun pala talaga siya. Ngayon, so nainis ako. Di ko maintindihan e, so that’s why I got irritated. Akala ko, he was mocking me.” Mike Carlos said, noting that the regret hurting the boy.
