List of 60+ Achievements of President Rodrigo Duterte 2016-2017 (And Still Counting)

Without a doubt, President Rodrigo Duterte has been very famous since the election campaign, to the point that even international media became interested in him. His unconventional and controversial speeches made him even more popular, especially to his critics. But the question is, are there improvements under the Duterte administration?



Sad to say, the Opposition (particularly the Liberal Party) has nothing good to say to President Duterte and all they see are the negative ones. Therefore, it’s now time to review President Duterte’s achievements since he won in the May 2016 elections until 2017. Below are more than 60 of them and still counting, with no particular order whatsoever.

1. 8888 (Citizen’s Complaint Hotline against corrupt and last government officials)
2. 911 (National Emergency Hotline, which started in Davao City)
3. End of infamous ‘Laglag Bala’gang in NAIA
4. NAIA removed in list of worst airports in Asia and in the world
5. Implementation of FOI (Freedom of Information) in the Executive Branch
6. Intensified war against illegal drugs via Oplan Tokhang
7. 1,304,795 drug surrenderees (July 1, 2016 to June 6, 2017)
8. Launch of mega drug rehabilitation facilities (such as in Nueva Ecija and Tacloban)
9. TESDA (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority) skills training programs to fully-rehabilitated drug dependents, including their immediate family members
10. Arrest of alleged high-profile narco-politicians such as mayors
11. Confiscated 2,446 kilos of shabu, with a street value of P12.62 billion (as of September 2017)
12. Curfew hours for minors
13. Crime rate down by 79,938 (Jul 2016-Mar 2017), as compared to 158,879 during Aquino administration (Jul 2015-Mar 2016)
14. No smoking in public places nationwide
15. Driver's license validity extension to 5 years
16. Passport validity extension to 10 years
17. Implementation of a 3-day maximum time for Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) applications
18. One-stop shop for OFWs in POEA
19. OEC exemption for OFWs who are returning to same employer
20. Opening of more passport processing centers via EO 45
21. Faster and easier processing of passports due to 15 additional data capturing machines
22. P35 billion worth of foreign aid and investments from his foreign visits (as of September 2017)
23. Immediate repatriation of more than 5,000 stranded OFWs in Saudi Arabia
24. Philippines ranked 10th fastest growing economy in the world in 2017, according to Forbes
25. Highest PSEi closed at all-time high 8,344.05 (October 4, 2017). Second all-time high was October 3, 2017, when PSEi closed at 8,312.93
26. Philippines’ foreign debt down by 6.7 percent, or $5.2 billion (as of June 2017)
27. Frequent visits to military camps to help boost morale of soldiers
28. No human rights abuse on implementation of Martial Law in Mindanao
29. Killing of Maute terrorist group leaders, Omar Maute and Isnilon Hapilon
30. Free Hong Kong vacation trip for Marawi soldiers who fought against Maute group
31. Temporary shelters for Marawi victims, worth P200,000 each
32. Free housing of families of fallen Marawi soldiers, worth P450,000 (2 units)
33. Free irrigation for farmers
34. Free tuition in state universities and colleges (SUCs), starting school year 2017-2018
35. Free Internet access in public places such as hospitals, transport terminals, and government offices
36. Increase of allowance of Olympics delegates, from $1,000 to $3,000
37. Resume of Mindanao peace talks
38. End of Contractualization (or ENDO)
39. PUVs or jeeepney modernization for safer and more convenient travel for the riding public
40. Filing of criminal charges against corrupt top government officials
41. Launch of online trading website to eliminate red tape and fixers (December 2017)
42. Removal of processing fee for travel tax exemption
43. Faster processing of business permits and licenses
44. P25 billion tax settlement from cigarette manufacturer, Mighty Corporation
45. Expose’ of P1.656 billion worth of unpaid rent of Mile Long Property by Sunvar Realty Development Corporation, a company owned by Rufino-Prieto of Philippine Daily Inquirer
46. Lucio Tan’s PAL (Philippine Airlines) to pay P6-billion worth of unpaid fees
47. Additional one sack rice to 4Ps cash assistance for the less fortunate
48. Pondo sa Pagbabago at Pag-asenso (P3), a microfinancing assistance for underprivileged Filipino entrepreneurs
49. Approval of P2,000 SSS pension raise (P1,000 increase in 2017, P1,000 before 2022)
50. Closure of 23 mining companies that allegedly destroy the country's natural resources
51. Display of national heroes’ portraits in government offices, instead of elected government officials
52. Installation of CCTV cameras at Bureau of Customs (BOC) office to promote transparency
53. Bilateral talks with China over disputes in the South China Sea
54. No VIP treatment for government officials in airports, including the president
55. Free medical assistance in six hospitals via Libreng Gamot Para sa Masa program (Lingap)
56. Duterte’s Kitchen, a feeding program for the poor, both children and adults
57. Gates of DAR (Department of Agrarian Reform) were opened to the public after 18 years
58. Distribution to farmer groups and local government units (LGU) of P2 billion worth of agricultural equipment that were purchased by the previous government, but were kept in DA compound for some explainable reasons
59. Expose’ of illegal drugs trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP)
60. Arrest and imprisonment of Sen. Leila de Lima for the alleged involvement in illegal drugs
61. Cleaner and better-looking cleaner Divisoria, Baclaran, Alabang and other public places
62. Premium Airport Bus Service, a public transportation from NAIA to selected areas in Metro Manila to help decongest traffic
63. Awarding of Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOAs) to 111 Hacienda Luisita farmers (as of February 2017)
64. Creation of task force for faster tracking and monitoring of the rehabilitation of Yolanda-affected areas
65. Closure of all online gambling sites, since the government is not getting proper taxes from them



Yes, the Duterte administration is not perfect. But with this huge list of achievements, no can deny that the president is doing a good job. Nevertheless, we must also thank the hardworking government agencies that contributed to these accomplishments. And yes, the road to change is still long. But if all of us work together, we can surely reach our goals.
