Piolo Pascual Donates P1 Million for Marawi Rehabilitation, Direk Joyce Bernal Donates P500K

Actor Piolo Pascual has donated P1 million to help in the rehabilitation of Marawi City, while movie director Joyce Bernal donated P500,000. Pascual and Bernal personally gave their checks to actor Robin Padilla on Monday, October 23. The financial assistance came a week after President Rodrigo Duterte declared the liberation of Marawi City from the Maute group.

As earlier reported, government forces have killed Maute Group leader Omar Maute and Abu Sayyaf subleader Isnilon Hapilon in a final battle against the ISIS-inspired terrorist group last October 16. A few days later, the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) had confirmed the identity of Hapilon through a DNA sample taken from his lifeless body.

Robin Padilla wrote as a caption on his Instagram post, showing Piolo giving him his check as Direk Joyce looks on.

The pro-Duterte action star added.

He has been very active in exerting extra efforts to help rebuild the lives of the displaced Marawi residents.

Earlier, Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano said that the Philippines will no longer accept aid from the European Union (EU) so it would stop from meddling into the country’s internal affairs. Nevertheless, Office of Civil Defense Assistant Secretary Kristoffer James Purisima said that the government has still plenty of sources of funds.
