According to Rose Ann, she has just finished taking bath at around 2 am that day when she heard loud snoring coming from under her bed. She said she immediately ran outside her room and screamed for help. Her father, Anacleto Flor Jr., got awake and took his bolo and rushed to his daughter's room, and hacked the man multiple times, in his face and body.
The suspect was identified as Paulo Estrada, who has been renting a unit inside the family’s compound for five years. In an interview, Mr. Flor admitted that he hacked Estrada with his bolo to protect his daughter. The stabbing only stopped when a group of barangay tanod responded. They immediately brought the suspect to the nearest hospital.
Estrada, 35, went under Rose Ann’s bed but fell asleep. Authorities said that the suspect was drunk. As of his posting, his motive is not yet clear, but a knife was found in his possession. Meanwhile, the head of Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Valenzuela office condemned the act of the father, and said they will conduct a separate investigation.
Atty. Ronwaldo de Lima said.
