Comelec Chair Bautista's Wife Accusations Not Politically Motivated, Ex ABS-CBN News Exec Explains Why

The recent corruption accusations of Patricia Paz “Tish” Bautista against his husband, Comelec (Commission on Elections) Chairman Andres Bautista shocked the country, and resulted to various speculations. But according to Charie Villa, a former executive at ABS-CBN News, the coming out of Comelec Chief Bautista's wife is not politically motivated.

“So what does this make of the national elections in 2016? COMELEC Chief Andy Bautista received commissions from DIVINA Law office -- the lawyer of SMARTMATIC? (The UST Law Dean Nilo Divina is also the lawyer of Mar Roxas).” Charie Villa wrote on Facebook, Monday, August 7, the day after Patricia Bautista came out on public via Inquirer's report.

"Ill-gotten wealth via election rigging, and as PCGG chair. -amassing hidden wealth as soon as he sat in government. ERC Jose Vicente Salazar and Comelec Chair Andy Bautista should suffer the consequences of their corrupt actions." The former ABS-CBN News executive added, and provided some vital details about Patricia's allegations.

As reported earlier, Comelec Chair Bautista defended himself, denying all the allegations, accusing Patricia of infidelity. Apparently, many supporters of the Liberal Party (LP) said that Charie Villa is only trying to connect the issue to the alleged cheating during May 2016 elections. This Tueday, she clarified her statement in her latest Facebook post.

"To those asking if I am the PR of Tisha Cruz Bautista, I am not. There is no money exchanged between us. I know Tisha when she and Alvin Lim were running the Angel Brigade (a network of do gooders) and Tao Po." Charie Villa wrote, adding that the Comelec chief's wife has approached her about her discovery sometime last February.

"When she and her young and idealistic lawyers came back to me saying Tisha is ready to speak, I called on news people I know and trust. They were the ones who interviewed Tisha last Friday. I am just correcting some information that are obviously misleading. Tisha's coming out is not connected to any political party, or any business agenda." She added.

Meanwhile, Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II has already ordered the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to conduct a thorough investigation on the allegations against Comelec chair Bautista. He emphasized that the result of the investigation can be used as evidence for filing an impeachment complaint and criminal case against the accused.
