Jover Laurio rose into fame last month when pro-Duterte blogger RJ Nieto, aka Thinking Pinoy exposed her identity as the blogger behind PAB, a blog created to defend the Liberal Party (LP) and to criticize President Duterte. Later, she was interviewed in British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), where she said she was a victim of cyber bullying.
Laurio, 36, was linked to another pro-LP Facebook page Silent No More, which posted the names of seven senators who allegedly did not sign a Senate resolution demanding a stop to the killing of minors in the government’s war against illegal drugs. The seven senators protested, which led to a Senate hearing on the prevalence of fake news on social media.
Last Sunday, Philippine Daily Inquirer (PDI) published a report on its official website and newspaper titled, “The Surpise? Jover Laurio’s Boyfriend is a Dutertto Cle Supporter.” In that post, Jover Laurio was quoted admitting that she has a boyfriend, and that he is a solid Duterte supporter. Nevertheless, she said they never quarrel about politics.

Meanwhile, a reliable source close to Melai Cantiveros tells us here at Philippine News Courier that the actress-comedian immediately declined the offer to portray as Jover Laurio in an MMK episode. According to her, the 2009 Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) winner is not afraid of Duterte supporters because she knows they understand that it’s just her job as an actress.
“Hindi biro ang halaga ng in-offer na talent fee sa kanya. Kahit sinong artista siguro agad na tatanggapin. Wala din naman daw problema kay Melai ang DDS kasi alam nya maiintindihan sya na trabaho lang ito. Kaso, medyo nag-iisip na daw siya kung tama nga ba na sinuportahan nila ni Jason sina Roxas at Robredo nung nakaraang election.” The source said.
