US President Donald Trump on Trillanes’ US Visit, “Senator Who? Doesn’t He Have an Arrest Warrant?”

It appears that US President Donald Trump is not also in favor of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV visiting the US recently. In an interview, the US president allegedly criticized the Liberal Party (LP) ally senator for talking to US Senator Marco Rubio, who incidentally one of the US senators who blocked the sale and export of firearms to the Philippines.

“The little Narco met with Sen. Marco.” President Trump was quoted as saying, as published at Pilipino Star Ngayon last October 30 by Al G. Pedroche. That time, reporters purportedly asked the US president about Trillanes’ US visit. The tough-talking president was then about to board Air Force I after he had an official visit to Texas.

“Senator who? Like I said senator who? The lil' narco who met Marco? Howd he get a visa? Isnt he wanted? Doesn''t he have an arrest warrant or something? I'm going to Manila to meet the main guy. A leaders’ leader, man’s man Rody, we talk from time to time, he’s the head of ASEAN right now and when you do deal you deal with the boss”. Trump added.

It can be recalled that Sen. Trillanes left for the US on October 15. Three days later, Sen. Rubio confirmed via his official Twitter that he met with Trillanes. He said this they discussed ties between the US and the Philippines, as well as ensuring human rights in the intensified war against illegal drugs under the administration of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Trillanes, a staunch of critic of the Duterte administration, was also reported to have tried to convince US senators to discourage President Trump from pursuing his first official visit to the Philippines. The US president is to attend the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit in Manila and other related meetings this coming November.

Later, Trillanes denied the accusations saying that he has no power to block Trump’s visit to the Philippines. Nevertheless, the soldier-turned politician emphasized that his meeting with Rubio is not part of the destabilization plot against Duterte. He also insisted that all the information he presented are ‘real’ and are for the interest and benefit of the country.
