Anti Duterte Supporter Slams Pinoys Who Were Offended by Mais Hamdan’s Joke About Filipinos

An irritated anti-Duterte supporter defended Jordanian actress Mais Hamdan, who recently made of fun on live TV on how some Filipinos speak in English. In her rant on Facebook that is now going viral, a certain Cheska (her surname was covered) said she doesn’t understand the attitude of her fellow Filipinos when it comes to accepting jokes.

“Di ko tlg magets ang mga Pinoy. Pag tayo kung makainsulto ng mga dayuhan kesyo mababaho daw ang mga Bumbay, ganun na lang. Tapos, yung mga jokes at mga mura ni Duterte, mas malala pa nga di hamak kesa kay Mais Hamdan, pero tawang tawa kayo.” Cheska wrote, noting that President Duterte’s jokes are worst than what Mais Hamdan did.

“Ang problema kasi, marami sa atin ang pikon, di makaintindi ng joke. Comedian si Ms. Hamdan tulad ni Vice Ganda, kaya minsan may kasamang banat pero sa nakakatawang paraan. Kaya kung tlgang gusto natin ng change, aba magbago na tayo at wag maarte!” She added, saying Hamdan is a comedian like Vice Ganda, who also crack insulting jokes.

A reported earlier, Mais Hamdan recently appeared in the TV comedy show ‘Lahonwas,’ where she made fun of Filipino accent when speaking in English. She even pretended to speak in English like a Filipino, but somehow in an insulting way. The video went viral as tons of Filipinos here and abroad rushed to her social media accounts and criticized her.

On the said interview, Hamdan said she heard a Filipina saleslady in Dubai talking to a customer. She imitated the Pinay OFW, and pronounced “Merry Christmas” as ‘Marry Christmas, and “collection” as “collaction.” For this, show host Hicham Haddad laughed, as well the audience. However, many Filipinos who watched it didn’t find it funny.

Last Sunday, November 19, Hamdan released a series of videos in her official Instagram account, and issued a public apology to the Filipinos. According to her, she did not intend to insult anyone, and that the act was only part of her job as a comedian. “All I want is to throw a smile on your faces. Please accept my apologies.” She said on her video.
