Rep Alejano Slams SM Mall Store Over Shirt Price Tag Showing Price Higher Than Original

It appears that Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano was not happy during his early Christmas shopping. According to him, he was with some friends inside an SM mall in Metro Manila to buy some new shirts. At one point, he saw a shirt and wanted to buy it. However, she said he noticed that it has a new price tag, showing its price than the original price.

“Bakit ganun, SM? Christmas Sale daw kayo, pero mas mataas yung price ngayon kesa sa dati?” Rep. Alejano told news reporters who incidentally saw him in the mall. He showed them a tampered white price tag, which has a yellow price tag on top of it. The white price tag shows a P1,599.70 price, while the yellow one shows a P2,400.00 price, or around P800 higher.

Alejano, a good friend of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and a staunch critic of the Duterte administration, said he approached a saleslady and asked her what the current price of the shirt is, and that he was told that it was the yellow one. Nevertheless, he said he still bought the shirt. He did not show it to the reporters, but a saleslady said it is a branded one.

Searching for answers, we at Philippine News Courier asked some netizens who love to shop at SM, especially during Christmas sale. Apparently, most of them said that they noticed that some items are tagged as “Sale” but are still being sold on the same price. In fact, some of them said they had almost the experience that Rep Alejano had.

“Last year lang, may nagustuhan akong sapatos kaso matagal pa sweldo. Kaya nung magkakaroon daw ng Sale na matatapat sa 13th month pay namin, tinantandaan ko itsura ng sapatos at kung saan nakalagay. Nung bumalik ako, may “30% Sale” na nakalagay pero P450 na ang price, na dati ay P400 lang.” Yolly (not her real name) told PNC.
