Watch: Bongbong Marcos Curses as He Greets Duterte “Happy Birthday,” Robredo Reacts (Video)

Former Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. greeted President Rodrigo Duterte on his 73rd birthday on Wednesday, March 28. But unlike other politicians who greeted the president, he did it in a somehow funny way and cursed at the president’s critics. With this, Vice President Leni Robredo could not help but react. “Maligayang bati Mr. President. (Greetings, Mr. President. I would just like to add to the gratefulness of all Filipino for what you have done to our country.)” Bongbong Marcos said on his Facebook video that day.

The only son of the late President Ferdinand Marcos added.

(And for me, I am grateful because you know, Mr. President I learned a lot from you especially in terms of communication. I was taught to be diplomatic and gentle, but in the past 2 years, I think your style is more effective.)

Marcos, who suffered a controversial loss from VP Leni Robredo in the 2016 elections, showed some video clips of President Duterte’s speeches where he cursed at bias media, foreigners who were about Philippine history, and the European Union (EU). He then showed his video clips speaking in a gently manner on those issues.

“Kaya Happy birthday Mr. President, happy birthday my friend. Marcos said on the last part of his birthday greetings to President Duterte. His curse words were bleeped out on video, but it is very clear that he cursed at the president’s critics. And for this, Robredo reacted.

VP Robredo told reporters, Wednesday.

(If someone thinks that it is right and is more effective communication when included with swear words, I disagree with that. Because it’s like telling our children that it’s Ok to curse so that people will listen to us. Does he want children to imitate him, especially his children?)
