PCOO Recalls Malacanang Press ID After Mocha Uson Saw Wrong Grammar

The Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) has ordered a recall of the media ID issued to the members of the Malacañang Press Corps (MPC) for this year, 2018. This comes shortly after PCOO Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson purportedly noticed that there are wrong grammar on the statements printed at the back of the ID.

“This card to be worn during presidential coverage, but subject to specific accreditation/security requirements. It should be worn at all times in entering Malacañang and while inside the Palace grounds. Unauthorized use of this card will result in confiscation.” A statement reads at the back of the 2018 MPC ID.

“It is non-transferrable and void if altered. This card remains property of Presidential Communications Office. Upon expiration or when resigns from his or her agency, this card should be returning without delay to the International Press Center, G/F National Press Club, Magallanes Drive, Intramuros, Manila.” The statement added.

And although the MPC ID card was signed by PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, he said he was not the one who wrote the statements, and that the IPC (International Press Center) did not return the final design to him for his approval before it was released. Meanwhile, a PCOO insider said it was Uson who first noticed the wrong grammar.

“Si Ma’m Mocha (Uson) po ang unang nakakita ng mga mali sa grammar na nakasulat doon sa ID. May inutusan pa nga po siya i-verify yung mga napansin niya. Di na po pinarating kay Sec (Andanar) kasi madali naman daw desisyunan kasi nga sigurado na siya na mali nga.” The PCOO insider, who requested not to be identified said.

(It was Mam Mocha Uson who first saw that were grammatical errors printed on the ID. She even instructed someone to verify if what she noticed. We did not inform Sec. Andanar because it was an easy decision because she was sure that there were mistakes in grammar.)



As of posting, the person who wrote the statements with wrong grammar is not known. However, the PCOO said it will conduct a thorough investigation, and will penalize him (or her) based on the rules of the Communications Office. It will also question IPC for using Andanar’s e-signature without his permission, adding that it also used the wrong one.
