Robredo to Attend Fundraising Event in US, Expects P2M From Donations

Vice President Leni Robredo is set to visit the United States again next month. This time, she is scheduled to attend a fundraising event where she will be the special guest. According to the printed ticket, the purpose is to raise funds for the victims of Mayon Volcano who are now temporary staying at Calabanga Health Center in Camarines Sur.

The Luncheon & Dance fundraising event will be on May 19, 2018, 1 pm at Highlawn Pavillion, Eagle Rock Reservation, West Orange, New Jersey. Each ticket is worth $100, and organizers reportedly has printed 400 tickets. Last Sunday, VP Robredo said she is expecting around $40,000 (P2 million) from donations via the event.

Robredo told reporters in Naga who saw her attending the Sunday mass.

(I’m happy because even our countrymen in America want to help Mayon Volcano victims. I really pity them, and I’m bothered to know that the government has no enough funds to provide their daily needs.)

She added.

(Another reason why I’m happy is because I only approached them once, and they immediately thought of this fundraising event. On their latest update to me, the tickets are almost sold out this early. They told me a lot of Filipinos there want to see me, and that they trust me that their donations will go those who really need it.)

The event is sponsored by ANCOP Foundation USA Inc. ANCOP stands for ANswering the Cry Of the Poor, a program founded by Couples for Christ (CFC), and has a worldwide membership and active in over 100 countries. Based on its website, it aims to help raise funds to build low cost modest houses for poor families in the Philippines.
