Watch: President Duterte Finally Clarifies His Stand on RevGov, Slams Media for Misquoting Him (Video)

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday, November 29 finally clarified his stand on RevGov (Revolutionary Government), amid speculations that he will declare it soon. The president, who is also the Commander-in-chief was interviewed by Communications Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson, and this is what he said. Watch video below.

“Kasi, nag-umpisa yan nung kung gaano kadelikado, yung Marawi pumutok, at itong Mindanao…pero there’s no need to declare a revolutionary government. Abogado ako e, only when it is already, ang bayan tataob na. Maybe, I will do something about it.” President Duterte told ASec Uson when asked his thoughts about declaring RevGov.

Mocha also asked the president about his opinion about the upcoming rally this coming Thursday, November 30. Apparently, his supporters will gather in several parts of the country, especially in Davao region to request him to declare RevGov. But as expected, they will be met by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) and Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan).

“I hope there will never be a time that I will be compressed to call for it. Ako, basta abogado, and we follow the Constitution. Only when the Republic of the Philippines is dying, and then siguro. Pero other than that…ano lang sila, to draw publicity. Yung, taken out of content. Kasi ang mga tao, ayaw naman nila ng Martial Law.” He added.

Apparently, President Duterte’s supposed plan to declare RevGov started last early October he said he will declare it if communists launched a destabilization attempt against the government. At the same, he also alleged that the United States’ Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and the Liberal Party, were cooking a destabilization plot against him.

“If your destabilization is taking place and there is chaos already, I will not hesitate to declare a revolutionary government until the end of my term and I will arrest all of you and we can go into a full-scale war against the Reds. I will declare a revolutionary government, you are all arrested. I am not scaring people, just remember that,” He said at that time.

But a few days later, President Duterte said he was only misquoted by media. “It wasn’t an outright statement that we should establish a revolutionary government. What I said…they (media) would really cut my message. That’s why I said I won’t engage on media’s whims,” he said, adding that there should have a revolution first before a RevGov can be declared.
