According to the BOC Commissioner Isidro Lapeña, the overstaying luxury cars were consigned to different persons, and came from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). On the other hand, the steel products came from China and Australia. He added that the shipments arrived some time in 2016 and May 2017, and that the seized goods are worth P24.2 million.
“MICP district collector lawyer Ruby Alameda issued a warrant for seizure and detention on the cargoes because of overstaying in the container yard of ICTSI (International Container Terminal Services). The two shipments will undergo forfeiture proceedings to know their liability to the government.” Commissioner Lapeña said.
He noted that the shipments of the steel products were seized due to discrepancy during x-ray inspection. They were consigned to a certain Dorotea Sadang of Andres Bonifacio, Diffun, Quirino, and declared as personal effect and household goods. Based on BOC, the shipment violated Section 1400 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

Upon investigation, the 2005 Ferrari F430 was consigned to Mary Joy Aguanta of Cagayan de Oro; the 2006 Lamborghini Murcielago intended for Veronica Angeles of San Rafael, Bulacan; while the 2012 Lamborghini Gallardo was for Allan Garcia of Apalit, Pampanga. The seized cars were processed by a customs broker named Christian Lao.
In addition, Aguanta was said to be a wealthy businesswoman, while Angeles and Garcia were both former top officials of the militant group, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) led by Renato Reyes Jr. Both of them were said to have recruited a lot of new members in from their respective provinces, but left Bayan in late 2016 for unknown reasons.
