Mar Roxas Rides MRT, “16 Trains Na Nga, Pero Bakit Masikip Pa Rin?”

Former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas surprised the public on Friday, April 6 when he rode the MRT-3, along with his staff. But despite the fact there are now 16 trains running, he still complained of being overcrowded, contrary to the statement of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Roxas told a few reporters, who rode with him in the MRT Sen. Gil Puyat Avenue (Buendia) station at around 7:45 am that day.

(I’m happy to know that there are now 16 trains running. But then, I hope we do not fool the public. You can clearly see that people still fall in line downstairs and it is being overcrowded inside, isn’t it?)

Roxas, who is now seldom being seen in public after losing the 2016 presidential elections, rode the MRT along with nearly 20 of this staff members. According to a netizen, his staff surrounded him, and prevented passengers to take photos of him. After the very short interview, he got off at Quezon Ave and was seen riding a green SUV.

Ano ba yan?!” The netizen wrote of Facebook, whose post is now going viral.

The DOTr said that 15 MRT trains started to run after Holy Week, and even posted photos of Facebook showing comfortable passengers of MRT during rush hour. But because it is only a partial solution, people will still need to fall in line. Nevertheless, the Transportation Department said there will be a total 20 trains running before the year ends.
