VP Robredo Invites Mocha Uson to Tour Naga and Albay After Mayon Volcano Mistake

Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCCO) Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson mistakenly said on Wednesday, January 24 that Mayon Volcano is in Naga City instead of Albay. But while she has already apologized for her mistake, Vice President Leni Robredo invited Mocha to visit Naga and Albay, where the famous volcano sits.

“Ginagamit po ng ilang mga tao itong maliit na issue sa award para pagtakpan’ yung issue ng Dengvaxia, issue ng pagtanggap diumano ni Senator Drilon ng pera galing kay Napoles, at yung pinakamahalaga pa yung nangyayari sa Naga, ‘yang pag-aalburuto ng Mayon volcano,” Mocha Uson said in an eight-minute Facebook video.

Uson, who has now more than 5.5 million Facebook followers, was then referring the Alumni award given to her last Sunday by the University of Santo Tomas Alumni Association (USTAAI). This is after a UST Alumni group and Mocha’s haters said that she does not deserve such kind of award. She returned the said award on Wednesday.

But as expected, she was heavily criticized on social media again and several memes were created about her mistake. Some celebrities such as Lea Salonga, Ethel Booba, and Enchong Dee also reacted on Twitter. On her Facebook post on Thursday, Mocha said she was sorry for her blunder and promised to do better next time.

“Piyesta na naman ang mga DISENTE/DILAWAN dahil sa pagkakamali na naman ni Mocha! Wala pong excuse sa aking pagkakamali. Pasensya na po. Mas pagbubutihin ko sa susunod.” Uson wrote, adding that her haters are happy about her mistake. Nevertheless, she also asked everyone to help victims of the eruption of Mayon Volcano.

Meanwhile, some reporters asked VP Robredo this Friday about Mocha’s mistake. According to the vice president, she understands her small error despite the fact that it is being taught to grade school students. As a gesture, she even invited Mocha to Naga (Robredo’s hometown) and to Albay once Mayon Volcano stops erupting.



“Tinuro sa atin yan kahit nung elementary pa lang tayo, pero syempre naiintindihan ko sya sa kanyang maliit na pagkakamali. At bilang taga-Naga, iniimbitahan ko sya sa aming siyudad at gayun din sa Albay, kaso pag di na nag-aalburuto ang Mayon.” VP Robredo told reporters in an ambush interview, and smiled mysteriously.
