According to a netizen we learned only as Fernando, he and her 68-year old aunt went on a stroll in a mall in BGC (Bonifacio Global City) in Taguig last Tuesday, January 2. He said that when they were already at the parking lot and about to go home, her aunt found a wallet. It contains P7,800 and a school ID, which belongs to a teenage girl.
His aunt said that they will immediately bring it to the nearest police station. However, the netizen said it would be better if they post it on Facebook. Unfortunately, his phone’s battery is very low, so his aunt said she will be the one to post it. The next day, a woman sent a message to his aunt ang identified herself as the mother of the wallet’s owner.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 3, Fernando and his aunt met with the woman and the owner of the wallet in the same mall in BGC. According to the netizen, both the mother and the daughter were so thankful that they were able to get the wallet back. But shortly, Rep. Gary Alejano appeared and approached them in a very rude manner.
“Why did you have to post the picture of the ID of my niece on Facebook? Didn’t you know that her information might be stolen?” Rep Alejano was quoted as telling to the aunt. The netizen said that the lawmaker was then wearing tshirt and maong pants, and that his voice is low but it was obvious that he was angry at her aunt.
Fernando added that he politely apologized to Alejano, and told him that they did not find the Facebook account of his niece, and that the said photo was deleted right after the mother sent her a message. However, the netizen said that that the Magdalo Representative got more angry, saying, “It seems that you are not using your head!”
At the last part of his post, the netizen admitted that he should have told his aunt not to post the picture of the school ID, and only the name of the owner. However, he said that Alejano could have been polite and somehow thankful to them for returning the wallet. As of posting, the lawmaker has not yet commented on this matter.
