3 Kadamay Members Arrested for Selling Fake House and Lot Title

Authorities arrested three members of Kadamay (Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap) on Monday, January 22 for selling fake title of a house and lot in Pandi, Bulacan. This is after a supposed buyer of the property suspected that there was something unusual during the negotiation, and reported it to the police before she made the payment.

“Nung una, medyo ok pa. Di mo talaga pagdududahan na scam kasi magaling silang magsalita at mahirap malaman na manloloko sila. Kaso, nagtaka na ako nung ibinaba nila ng husto yung presyo, at minamadali nila akong magbayad.” Dolores Lardizabal, told reporters, shortly after the entrapment operation against the suspects.

(At first, it was Ok. You will not doubt think that it is a scam because they speak well, and it’s hard to know that they are scammers. But thrn. I started to doubt when they lowered the price too much, and are rushing me to pay.)

“Ang unang usapan kasi namin ay P200,000. Pero nung sinabi kong gustong gusto ko yung lugar kaso kulang pera ako, bigla nilang ibinaba sa P120,000. Buti na lang, naikwento sa akin ng manugang ko ang tungkol sa pabahay na pinamigay ng gobyerno sa mga Kadamay na yan.” The 68-year old retired public school teacher added.

(Our first agreement was P200,000. But when I told them I really like the place although I don’t have that money, they immediately reduced the price to P120,000. It’s good that my son-in-law told me about the housing project of the government for the Kadamay.)

Bulacan police identified the 3 suspects as Loreto Marasigan, his wife Iluminada, and a certain Jojo, who acted as the real estate broker. At first, the 3 suspects denied being Kadamay members. Nevertheless, they confessed the truth after the police show them the photo of Iluminada in a news report of a leading newspaper about Kadamay protest.

According to P/Insp. Reginaldo Valentin of Bulacan Police Provincial Office, a representative of the NHA (National Housing Authority) was present during the entrapment operation, and it was confirmed that the house and lot title obtained by the suspects is fake. As of posting, Kadamay Chairperson Gloria Arellano has not yet commented on this matter.
