Trillanes’ Excel File Copy of Alleged Duterte’s Hidden Wealth Used the Wrong Formula, Bank Exec Confirms

The Excel file of the alleged multi-billion-peso hidden wealth of President Rodrigo Duterte that Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has obtained used the wrong formula. This is according to bank executive who made a thorough review at the said Excel spreadsheet. This latest development comes after the Office of the Ombudsman started its own investigation.



“Out of curiosity, I asked one of our tellers to encode the Excel data of the alleged bank transactions of President Duterte, and to use the same formula we have been using the past several years. She then noticed that the total amount on our Excel sheet is far lower than that of Sen. Trillanes’ copy.” The bank executive, who requested anonymity said.

“And because I was not satisfied, I did the review by myself and found out it that the person who encoded the Excel sheet from Sen. Trillanes used the wrong formula. I also noticed that some bank withdrawals were added to the total amount but are supposed to be subtracted.” She added, noting that the formulas are not really that complicated.

Last Thursday, Overall Deputy Ombudsman Arthur Carandang said that the documents turned over by the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) to the Ombudsman showing the alleged bank transaction records of the Duterte family are similar to those obtained by Sen Trillanes, who earlier said that the accounts involved P2 billion in deposits and credits.

According to Caradang, the records turned over by AMLC show deposits and withdrawals also showed bank accounts of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, Davao City Vice Mayor Paolo and Sebastian "Baste" Duterte, as well as joint account of President Duterte’s common-law wife Honeylet Avanceña and their daughter, Veronica “Kitty” Duterte.

Later that day, the AMLC denied being the source of the documents obtained by Sen. Trillanes, emphasizing that “It has neither provided the Office of the Ombudsman with any report as a consequence of any investigation of subject accounts for any purpose. We have yet to evaluate the request, and the initiation of an investigation.”



"We have categorically stated before that the AMLC is not the source of the documents and information attached by Senator Antonio F. Trillanes IV in his Complaint, regarding the alleged bank accounts of President Rodrigo Duterte.” AMLC added, noting that the total amounts of the bank transactions stated at Trillanes’ copy are "wrong and misleading."
