Based on Ms. Sotto’s statement, the incident took place last September 4, at around 5 pm. She said she rode the elevator at the 6th floor of the Senate building. Upon reaching the 5th floor, Sen. Manny Pacquiao and his staff and bodyguards rode the same elevator. According to her, the problem occurred when the door opened on the second floor.
“He raised his right arm at a ninety degrees angle, effectively fencing me in. He was so close bodily and slightly bent at the waist, that his buttocks was touching my stomach and the heels of his shoes were stepping on the tips of my open-toed shoes.” Beverly Sotto wrote, referring to Pacquiao’s bodyguard who was later identified as a certain “Noel.”
“What this bodyguard did was beyond rude and very excessive given the setting. He used his body to hold me in position, leaving me in a very tight space with parts of his body touching mine to subdue any movement from me. I feel very violated and insulted by the actions of the said bodyguard.” She added, who later told the story to Sen. Tito Sotto.
Later, Sen. Sotto relayed the story to Sen. Pacquiao, who said that he already disciplined the said bodyguard. “Di lang sisibakin, ia-upper cut ko pa, para makatikim siya ng kaliwa’t kanan. (I will not only fire him. I will also punch him so he can taste my left and right.)” The Filipino boxing icon told reporters in an ambush interview last Tuesday, September 27.
On the same day, online celebrity Arzaylea Rodriguez updated her Instagram account, wherein many netizens believe is her reaction to Pacquiao’s move against his rude bodyguard. “my hero's now within you.” Rodriguez wrote, who recently became controversial after Manny Pacquiao sent her a message on her live video.
