Watch: VP Leni Robredo Sits on the Floor While Visiting a Family in Pateros (Video)

In her first year in office this Friday, June 30, Vice President Leni Robredo visited a poor family in Barangay Sta. Ana in Pateros as part of her Metro Laylayan program. But because the family has no chairs, the vice president sat on the floor while talking to the family members, including the mother. Watch video below, via her official Facebook page.

As you can see, VP Leni Robredo was wearing a pink polo and maong pants when she and her team visited the Bobis family. Accompanied with a cameraman, she shook hands with the mother, and they entered the house. The 52-year old vice president sat on a floor in an Indian style, and was given an electric fan to somehow make her comfortable.

During her conversation with the mother, VP Robredo learned that there are five children in the family, and four of them are going to public school. Shortly, she asked her staff for school bags, which she personally gave to each of the children. The vice president spent more than 15 minutes with the family, and vowed to help them in their basic needs.

In her interview with reporters, VP Robredo said her first year in office focused more in having a meeting with poor communities in remote areas. She noted that her flagship anti-poverty program, "Angat Buhay: Partnerships Against Poverty," which was launched on October 10, 2016, will be intensified further so that more Filipino families will benefit from it.

"Yung first year kasi namin talagang most of the time ginugol namin sa paghanap ng communities na nangangailangan ng tulong. At for the past 11 months, ano kami, all over the country, naisipan lang namin mag-devote din ng at least once a month para dito sa Metro Manila." Robredo told reporters, who also talked with other families in her visit.

"Marami kaming mga partners na kasama na maaring makapagbigay ng kabuhayan, maaring makatulong sa ibang mga bagay na pangangailangan din. Marami na yung nadalang tulong pero mas marami pa yung kailangan," she added, noting that her office has no enough budget, and had to partner with some organizations and local government units (LGUs).
