ANC Confirms President Duterte Photo With Christopher Go, With TV News Behind as Real

Amidst rumors that President Rodrigo Duterte is sick and nowhere to be found, his special Christopher 'Bong' Go released photos of him with the president. However, some Liberal Party (LP) supporters claimed that those photos are fake and were taken several weeks ago. Nevertheless, ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) confirmed that the photo is real.

The question "Where is the president?" apparently started when President Duterte skipped the Independence Day rites on June 12. He was last seen in public on Sunday, June 11 at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City, where he honored the Marines who were killed in Marawi City. His critics suggested that Duterte is sick, and that Malacanang is hiding him.

According to a post at Silent No More Facebook page, Go is spreading fake photos to hide the real health condition of President Duterte. Allegedly, the photos in question were also posted at the Facebook page of Honeylet Avacena (Duterte's common-law wife) last year. The LP-inclined Facebook page then demanded that the Filipinos should know the truth.

In one of the photos, the president can be seen standing beside Go. Behind the president is a TV set showing ANC news reports about the fire at Grenfell Tower in London, England that occurred last Wednesday, June 14. But in a statement, Malacanang said the photos were taken shortly before 6 pm on Thursday. ANC released a statement later that day.

“ANC confirms that its crawler seen on the TV behind President Duterte was aired today at 5:48 p.m.” ANC wrote in a Facebook post, Thursday, as a caption to the photo similar with the photos released by Go, and being questioned by admins of Silent No More Facebook page. Malacanang said that the photo Duterte and Go was taken at Bahay Pagbabago.

That day, President Rodrigo Duterte was also seen visiting Villamor Air Base in Pasay City. Malacanang released some photos of him returning a salute and shaking hands with a personnel of the Philippine Air Force before he left for Davao City. And although there was no media aroung, a video shows that he is very much likely to be in good health condition.
