CHR Slams NCRPO Director Albayalde for Humiliating Policemen Who Were Caught Sleeping on Duty (Video)

No less than National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Oscar Albayalde himself caught police officers assigned at Pasay City PCP 7 sleeping on duty on Wednesday night, February 7. But while tons of netizens praised for his surprise inspection, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) criticized him for humiliating them.

“Ikaw ang PCP commander dito? Alam mo tulog ang mga tao mo? Pati ikaw tulog. Anong klaseng mga ano kayo,” Director Albayalde told PCP 8 Chief Senior Insp. Ferdinand Duren in front of some news reporters who arrived at the said precinct with him. Later, he also scolded another policeman who was caught sleeping on duty.

(You’re the PCP commander her? Do you know your people are asleep? And even you are asleep. What kind of (cops) are you?)

“Beat patrol? Sa tingin mo nagbe-beat patrol ka? Hanggang saan na ba ang narating mo sa kaka-beat patrol mo sa tulog mo? Saan ka na nakarating? Sa panaginip? ([Beat patrol? You really think you’re on beat patrol? So how far did you go in your beat patrol while asleep? Where place did you reach in your dreams? He told another cop sleeping on duty.

So far, a total of 18 policemen were relieved from their posts after Albayalde’s surprise visits. They consist of 14 officers and four station commanders, including the Sucat cops who were caught drinking liquor while on duty. They have been reassigned to the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.

Meanwhile, CHR Chairman Chito" Gascon said he is not pleased with the way Albayalde has treated his policemen he caught sleeping while on duty. According to him, there’s nothing wrong with the surprise visit. However, he said that it is not right that the media covered it, adding that there was a violation of human rights.

“Mali talaga ang matulog habang naka duty, pulis man o hindi. Kaso, kelangan ba talagang ipahiya sa harap ng media? Paano kung may anak yung pulis na posibleng ma-bully sa eskwela pag nalaman nilang siya ang anak nung pulis? Tingin ko, may violation of human rights dun.” Gascon said in an ambush interview this Thursday.
