CHR to Closely Monitor Arrested Minors Who Were Suspected as NPA Rebels

Six alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) were arrested last Saturday, March 3. Among them are two minors and four adults including a newly graduate of University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu named Myles Albasin y Cantal. With this, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said they will closely monitor the two minors.

CHR to Monitor Proceedings on Pasig Bank Teller Murder Suspect, “Baka Patayin Tapos Sabihin Nanlaban”

The Eastern Police District (EPD) this Monday, November 20 presented to media a certain Randy Oavenada, the witness-turned-suspect in the killing of Mabel Cama, a 22-year-old bank employee, a day after they arrested him. Ex-CHR Lawyer to Sue CHR Chairman Chito Gascon for Not Following CHR Functions, as Mandated by Law

Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chairman Jose Luis Martin ‘Chito’ Gascon is set face charges very soon. This is after a former lawyer of CHR plans to sue him for not following the functions of the agency, as mandated by law. The move comes a few days after the House, via majority votes approved a budget of only P1,000 for CHR in 2018.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 approved a budget of only P1,000 to the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) for 2018. The nearly-zero budget was approved via majority votes, with at least 119 congressmen voted Ýes’ and only 32 voted ‘No. Watch the deliberation of some of the lawmakers on the video below.
