Rappler Grills Duterte Supporter for Leaving a Comment Without Searching First

Online news media Rappler seemed to have lost patience on netizens who call them as bias against President Rodrigo Duterte. On its official Facebook page about two hours ago, it replied to a comment from a Duterte supporter who accused them of focusing only on the negative news against the president. See screenshot below.

“Bakit ganyan ang content ng istorya niyo. bakit d kayo gmawa ng content about devangxia vaccine, alleged stolen gold ni noynoy, SAF44, MRT issue under aquino admin, DAP aquino admin etc.” A certain Renz Guevarra comment on Rappler’s post on about two statements of President Duterte that seems to be contradicting each other.

“I will not be a dictator. I will just ask everybody to follow the law. But then, I’ll be strict and harsh.” Rappler quoted President Duterte’s statement on February 24, 2016. But on February 7, 2018, the president said, “If you say dictator, I will be a dictator. Because if I will not be a dictator, son of a b**ch, nothing will happen to this country,” Rappler wrote.

As expected, Rappler’s post earn mixed reactions from both pro and anti-Duterte netizens. But of all those comments, Rappler chose to reply to Guevarra’s comment. “Bakit hindi po kayo nagreresearch bago magcomment? (Why did you not do a research fist before you left a comment?)" The Facebook admin of Rappler wrote.

Rappler also posted several links to their earlier news reports about Dengvaxia vaccine, SAF 44, MRT under (Noynoy Aquino), and DAP also under the former president. Nevertheless, the controversial news website said that it does not publish news about Noynoy’s alleged stolen gold, saying that they don't entertain conspiracy theories.

As we all know, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has already revoked Rappler's license to operate early January. SEC said that Rappler was liable for violating SEC rules by engaging in a fraudulent transaction and circumventing constitutional restrictions on foreign ownership, via eBay owner Pierre Omidyar.
