Hontiveros to Help Woman With “Ulam” at Helmet in Filing Cyberbullying Complaint vs Bashers (Video)

A female motorist was recently apprehended by MMDA enforcer for not wearing her helmet, and instead she used it as a basket for her viand (ulam). However, she cursed at him and hit him a couple of times. And because she was heavily criticized on Facebook, she now plans to sue her bashers, and Senator Risa Hontiveros vowed to help her.

First uploaded at Gadget Addict Facebook page on Sunday, February 11, the viral video shows a man and woman riding a motorcycle was stopped by MMDA officers at Visayas Avenue, Quezon City. The man, who was driving the motorcycle was wearing his helmet, while the woman was holding her helmet instead of using it as a protection gear.

According to the post, another team of MMDA enforcers have already stopped the couple at Road 3 around 15 minutes ago, and issued them a traffic ticket for the same violation. But this time, the woman got angry and cursed at one enforcer when they explained to her the complaints process. She thought that he was laughing at her.

”Eh may binili kaming ulam (at sa helmet nilagay)” The 'helmet girl,' who was later identified as Chezka Bautista told the enforcer when she was asked why she was not wearing her helmet. When the video went viral, tons of netizens bashed her and called her with different names. Many of them said she was abusive despite the fact that she violated an important traffic rule.

In a radio interview also on Sunday, MMDA operations supervisor Bong Nebrija confirmed that the woman admitted that she used her helmet as a “food basket.” However, he said that she should have filed a complaint if she thinks she was insulted instead of cursing at hitting the MMDA enforcers and the person taking the video.

This Monday, reports said that the woman has already contacted the office of Sen. Risa Hontiveros, and asked for help in filing a case against the person who uploaded the video, as well as cyberbullying complaints vs her bashers. Hontiveros, who is a known advocate for the rights of women and children, was said to have promised to help her.
