“Yes, I support any kind of war against illegal drugs, especially how it is being done here in the Philippines. I know that this is not easy, but I can see that a lot of Filipinos are supporting your president, and I think that’s a good sign.” Nel-Peters said when asked about her opinion on how President Duterte is fighting illegal drugs.
However, the 22-year old South African beauty said she is also worried about the EJKs (extra-judicial killings) she has heard in the news. But then, she said that the authorities should be able to pinpoint the real suspects, and prosecute them. “There are different opinions about it, so I can only hope that the victims will get justice.” She said.
Interestingly, it seems to be not surprising that Demi-Leigh is supporting the likes of President Duterte, being a tough leader. In case you don’t know, she once proved that she can defend herself. A month after she was crowned Miss South Africa, Nel-Peters punched a car thief who wants to steal her car, and managed to escape and call for help.
Nel-Peters, who won the Miss Universe 2017 crown last November 16 is here to help promote the country, as invited by the Department of Tourism. She and Miss Universe 2017 candidates from Spain, Italy, Russia, Malaysia, India, Canada, China, Singapore, and Philippines’ bet Rachel Peters will visit Batanes, Vigan, Bohol, and Camiguin.
This Thursday afternoon, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters and other Miss Universe beauties visited Jollibee’s Biopolis branch in Pasay City. The beauty queens ate and bonded with orphan girls from Kanlungan sa Er-Ma Ministry in Manila. As of posting, there is no information if they will also meet President Duterte in Malacanang, as part of their 4-day Philippine trip.
