Duterte Supporter Pawns House and Lot, Donates P75,000 to Fake Advocates of RevGov

A staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte decide to pawn his house and lot, and donated P75,000 to a group that claimed to be advocate of RevGov (revolutionary government). Allegedly, the group promised him to be appointed him to be a top official of RevGov in exchange of money. However, he later realized that he was a victim of a scam.

According to Police Sr. Inspector Domingo de Dios of Cagayan Police Provincial Office, a former Barangay councilor in Claveria filed a formal complaint against a certain Atty. Jose Roa Matias II whom he said had convinced him to donate money to a group that allegedly supports RevGov. In return, he will be designated as one of the local officials of RevGov.

De Dios did not mention the name of the complainant, but said that he heavily campaigned for President Duterte in the last election, and even used his own money. When Duterte eventually won, the victim joined several pro-Duterte Facebook Groups and met Matias in one of them. Matias allegedly identified himself as a lawyer, and close to the president.

The victim added that Matias was said to have been posting information about federalism on Facebook, and has earned tons of followers. When President Duterte announced last October that he will not hesitate to declare RevGov if communists shall launched a destabilization attempt against the government, Matias also heavily supported it.

De Dios said based on the complaint, Matias started to request for donations a few days after Duterte made his statement. Allegedly, the funds will go the group’s activities such as processing of papers for those who will be appointed as RevGov officials. The victim claimed the he initially donated P15,000, but did not receive a receipt for his donation.

The victim pawned his house and lot for an undisclosed amount last November 4, and sent P60,000 to the group, again without any receipt. A week later, he saw a video of President Duterte saying that he will not declare RevGov. The victim immediately requested withdrawal of his money, but the persons whom he sent the money to had already deactivated their Facebook accounts.
