"Kami po ay humihingi ng tulong sa kaso ni Aimy Junnel Tamayo, 12 yrs old at nag-aaral sa San Francisco Elementary School, San Francisco, Tarlac. Siya po ay may dengue case mula po noong Disyembre 2, 2017 (Sabado) at ngayon po ay naka admit sa Jecson Hospital Tarlac, Tarlac City.” A certain Von Dy posted on Facebook, Monday, December 4.
“Si Aimy po ay isa nabigyan ng dengue vaccine (3 shots). Ngayon po ay nasa ICU sya at patuloy ang pag monitor sa kanya." Dy, Aimy’s relative added, as part of her caption of the photos of Aimy inside the ICU of the said hospital. In a blog post by RJ Nieto, aka Thinking Pinoy, he said he was able to talk to a certain Lejani Pangalangan, Aimy’s mother.
According to Pangalangan, Aimy has already received the 3-shots dengue vaccine, with the third shot given last August, 3 months ago. She said that her daughter started to have fever on November 28, adding that Aimy never had dengue before. And because dengue can only be detected after 3 days, Aimy was brought to the hospital on December 2.
Pangalangan added that Aimy is now in Grade 6, and that her first and second dengue vaccine was on March 30, 2016, and October 13, 2016. She emphasized that school officials never informed parents about the program, no parents consent, no waiver, whatsoever, and that she was surprised that Aimy has already been vaccinated.

It should be noted; however that Dengvaxia manufacturer Sanofi Pasteur said that vaccination should not be recommended to children who have not previously infected by dengue virus, adding that more cases of severe disease could occur to them. For Aimy’s case, she received the vaccination, despite the fact she never had dengue before.
Last Friday, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said that the P3.5-billion dengue vaccination program has been stopped due to the dengue vaccine manufacturer’s health warning. But while Sanofi said that there is a 30-month protective period before risk of severe dengue for children who never had dengue before, it did not apply to Aimy’s case.
