Aguirre to Run for Senator in 2019 Under LP, After Resigning as DOJ Chief

Former DOJ (Department of Justice) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II will run for senator in the 2019 elections under the Liberal Party (LP), according to Ifugao Rep. Teddy Baguilat Jr., LP’s vice president (VP) for internal affairs. This development came a day after he resigned from his post, with President Rodrigo Duterte accepting his resignation.

LP Adds Aguirre in Their List of Senatorial Candidates for 2019 Elections

The Liberal Party (LP) has added the name of DOJ (Department of Justice) Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II in their unofficial list of senatorial candidates for the 2019 midterm elections. This is after there were rumors that President Rodrigo Duterte fired Aguirre on Wednesday, April 4, during the 24th Cabinet meeting in Malacañang.
